Availability

Permanent card termination is not currently available through the public Numero API. There is no supported /business/card/{reference}/terminate or /business/card/{reference}/cancel endpoint to call, in either test or live mode. The internal administrative termination flow is also unavailable until issuer closure and the disposition of remaining funds can be confirmed. Do not treat an administrative request, a freeze response or a missing card in a list as confirmation of permanent closure.

Freeze versus terminate

  • Freeze temporarily blocks spending and can be reversed by unfreezing. The funds remain on the card.
  • Termination permanently closes the issuer card. It must be confirmed separately from any withdrawal or return of remaining funds.
  • Withdraw moves eligible funds off a card; a successful withdrawal does not terminate it.
Use freeze when you need to block new spending now. Contact Numero support if permanent closure is required. Retain the Numero card reference and read the latest card status; never mark a card terminated or credit its remaining balance based only on a freeze. Transaction history remains available for reconciliation after a card is confirmed closed. A card.terminated webhook describes a recorded closure; it does not by itself confirm that the remaining funds reached your USD card wallet.
